How we install it
Posts set in concrete, to depth. Perth sand does not hold a post. Shallow footings are the single most common reason a Colorbond fence starts leaning within a few years. We dig to depth and concrete every post.
Plinths where the ground falls away. On a sloping block you either step the fence or use a plinth at the base. Without one you get a gap under the fence — which lets dogs out, lets sand wash through, and looks unfinished.
Rails and sheets fitted square. Sheets that are not square show it from thirty metres, especially in a long run.

Why Colorbond suits Perth

Dark colours get hot. Monument and Basalt look sharp and they are everywhere right now, but on a west-facing boundary in February they get properly hot to touch. Worth thinking about if you have got small kids or the fence is right beside a pool area.
Match the roof or the house, not the neighbour’s fence. The fence is up for twenty years. It should sit with your house.

How long does a Colorbond fence take to install?
A standard residential boundary is usually one to two days including removing the old fence. Longer runs, sloping ground, retaining work or awkward access add time. You get a realistic timeframe with your quote.
Does Colorbond fencing rust in Perth's coastal suburbs?
Colorbond’s coating system is built for Australian conditions including coastal exposure, and it performs far better than untreated steel or poorly maintained timber. The place rust starts is at cut edges and damaged sections, which is why clean cuts and careful handling on install matter. Hosing the fence down occasionally does more good near the coast than most people expect.
What height can a Colorbond fence be?
Common residential heights are 1.5 m, 1.8 m and 2.1 m. Front boundaries are usually restricted by your local council’s requirements, and side and rear boundaries have more freedom. We check what your council allows as part of quoting.
Who pays for a Colorbond fence between two properties?
Under the Dividing Fences Act 1961 (WA), adjoining owners are generally each liable for half the cost of a sufficient dividing fence. If you want something better than the standard, you cover the difference. Full answer here
