Either way it has to meet AS1926 and pass a council inspection before the pool gets filled. Gate latch height, gap sizes and anything climbable near the barrier are the usual reasons an inspection fails. We set all of that correctly up front, and we use marine-grade fittings so the spigots and hinges are not the first thing to give out in the salt.
A pool gate has to close and latch on its own every single time. That is not a nice-to-have, it is what the standard requires and what an inspector checks. In coastal air, cheap hinges and latches corrode and stop doing their job, and most people do not notice until it is already failing.

Front fencing in Marmion is a balancing act. You want the block defined and the dog contained, but not at the cost of what you can see from the front room. A tall solid fence out the front of a coastal home is usually a decision people regret.
Low-profile works better here. A short limestone or rendered base with aluminium slat or tubular panels above it holds the line without walling anything off. Aluminium is the sensible choice this close to the water because it will not rust, and powder coating in a colour that suits the house keeps it looking deliberate rather than tacked on.
Side and rear boundaries are where Colorbond earns its keep. Nobody is looking at those runs, they just have to give you privacy and stay standing. The catch in Marmion is that a standard inland build will not last. Salt gets into exposed steel, the fixings bleed rust down the sheets, and post bases go thin where damp sand sits against them.
We use galvanised posts, coastal-grade fixings and sheeting suited to the exposure, and we keep the base of each post clear so moisture is not trapped against it. If your existing fence is already rusting through, we replace the whole system rather than screwing fresh sheets to rails that are half gone.
Blocks that step down toward the water need the levels sorted before anything else happens. Without a wall you get sand creeping, garden beds slumping and, eventually, a fence that starts leaning because the ground under one end has moved.
We build limestone block, concrete sleeper and panel-and-post walls, with drainage behind so winter rain drains away instead of pushing on the back of the wall.
